The Grasmere Yew IV

July 14, 2018  by phil  |  Spring

This is one of my favourite views in the world. It’s the first place I visit every time – a beautiful, winding climb up the fells with Grasmere at my back. One year, I went around the other side of the lake, to see what this lone Yew looked like from a distance. It was breathtaking – the sheer scale of the landscape rearing up around this solitary tree, probably a wind-blown seed from a century ago. Please visit http://www.adailyforest.com/2018/07/the-grasmere-yew-iv/ to see the landscape in a wide crop – the Insta square doesn’t quite capture the scale.
